Small Blushing Porcelain Vase

This porcelain cutie was fired at Hiroshi Ogawa’s woodfire kiln many moons ago but I’m just now really appreciating the subtle markings on it. A hint of pink shows in good light–marks made from copper fuming off other pots in the firing. Will be a nice windowsill vase for short stemmed blooms.
3.5″ tall – $35.

Stoneware Butter Dish

A customer asked for a butter dish to match a sugar and creamer set she purchased from me many years ago. Took me a couple of attempts to figure out the shrinkage to fit over a cube of butter but not be too large to pick up. Then had to get the glazing right. People are seeing all kinds of animal faces… I like that.

These will go nicely with the leaf plates. Dishwasher safe. $40-$45 depending on size.

Goddess Sculpture for your Garden

Garden Goddess

All the years I did the fairs I had much better luck with these at garden shows than art festivals. Was it because gardeners have more on their mind than skinny body images? Are gardeners more earthy and down with the idea that bountiful is beautiful?

In any event, a Garden Goddess will watch over the steady growth and well being of any flower bed in which she is placed. They are hollow with nowhere for freezing ice to collect, so can live outdoors year-round.

Stoneware with porcelain inlay. Custom order one of these $500-$650 depending on size. Please give me 6-8 weeks.

P.S. Once, a friend placed a container inside and used one for a huge centerpiece arrangement for a big dinner party. Wish I had a photo!

On my way to making 100 of these…my spotty records show over 70 have found homes.

Have had fantasies of contacting all of the families with these in their collections to have one big “family reunion” and then take a photo of them all in one big group. Alas, have been an admin person long enough to know that would be a nightmare of organizing.

Something Different for Your Table

They’re almost round but certainly not square: Tri-angular plates. And since you’ve broken the mold, how about leaf plates for salad and sandwiches?! These two are the sage glaze with cream surface. Can do them in blue/green with brown surface, too, or a mix & match of your desire. Plate – $36, Leafs – $26. A slightly smaller version of the leaf plate is available here at my Etsy Store.

Stoneware Vase

This little stoneware vase came out of our last wood-firing and is one-of-a-kind. Made from end of the day left over clay, she was just whipped out for fun. Threw her in the wood-firing because I figured, what the hay. She got such nice markings from the flame and ash she almost looks elegant now. A small beauty – $55. Available for Purchase.

Three-piece Canister

Stacking Canister

One of the hardest things to do when hand building clay is to get lids to fit properly. So, why-o-why did I come up with a piece that has three “lids” to fit?!? Actually the trick was remembering high school geometry and “pi” and the rest is hoping everything dries and fires without warping too much. These make swell bathroom counter earring back, cotton ball, q-tip holders. $75-$85

Simple Bouquet Needs

Another variation of one of my older forms, this “tulip vase” is minus the side spirals for a clean lined look. The top opening is narrow so just about any $4.99 grocery store bouquet dropped in and spread out will look nice in it. Floppy tulips reaching out over the sides look especially nice. 9″ tall-$45.

Two Ceramic Baskets

I’m sometimes asked what I use these basket forms for… Being the compulsive collector I am, around our place they hold small rocks, fortune cookie wishes, rubber bands, pencils and more. I even use one for gum wrappers and flotsam in my van. Wide base keeps it stabile. Add a 4″ pansy and voila, you have a hostess gift. Larger basket $45, smaller $35.
