This style vase has been one of my standard pieces for many years now. Arrangers like the handle and I like the clean lines and timely feel of the shape. Here it is with the sage green glaze that seems to have taken off in popularity this year. 13″ – $75 (Sold)
Small Blushing Porcelain Vase
This porcelain cutie was fired at Hiroshi Ogawa’s woodfire kiln many moons ago but I’m just now really appreciating the subtle markings on it. A hint of pink shows in good light–marks made from copper fuming off other pots in the firing. Will be a nice windowsill vase for short stemmed blooms.
3.5″ tall – $35.
On sale now in my Etsy shop.
This little stoneware vase came out of our last wood-firing and is one-of-a-kind. Made from end of the day left over clay, she was just whipped out for fun. Threw her in the wood-firing because I figured, what the hay. She got such nice markings from the flame and ash she almost looks elegant now. A small beauty – $55. Available for Purchase.
Another variation of one of my older forms, this “tulip vase” is minus the side spirals for a clean lined look. The top opening is narrow so just about any $4.99 grocery store bouquet dropped in and spread out will look nice in it. Floppy tulips reaching out over the sides look especially nice. 9″ tall – Similar pieces at my Etsy Shop NicePots.
Two Ceramic Baskets
I’m sometimes asked what I use these basket forms for… Being the compulsive collector I am, around our place they hold small rocks, fortune cookie wishes, rubber bands, pencils and more. I even use one for gum wrappers and flotsam in my van. Wide base keeps it stabile. Add a 4″ pansy and voila, you have a hostess gift. Larger basket $45, smaller $35.
Stoneware Zipper Vase
This vase has a graceful opening for flowers to billow out in several directions. High fired stoneware, with circle opening at bottom of “zipper” for a larger stem or branch. 13″ x 9″ – $125
This vessel was used at Ceramic Showcase (a few years back) for a demo of a simple Sogetsu Ikebana arrangement. The arranger first used heavenly bamboo and a few branches, then switched to this lilac and greenery. The off-center opening was just meant for this kind display. 18″ long, 7-9″ tall, woodfired. $175
“Dancing Vases” come in a variety of heights to best fit your flower arranging needs. Comes in the blue/green glaze seen here, gold/black and a greenier/goldier version of this blue/green. 7″ – 14″ tall, $24-$75 depending on height.
Two Boat Bowls
This shows the slight variations in each form — an undulating wall here, a more bent curl there. These are approx. 12″ x 7″ x 4.5″ – $65 each.
